Triumph Factory Racing’s Austin Forkner has bounced back from a challenging opening round of 250SX East to place a strong seventh at the second stop of the series in Detroit, Michigan. The encouraging result moves the talented racer up to 12th in the championship standings.

Detroit's Ford Field was the venue for round two of 250SX East and despite heavy snow falling during race day, a healthy crowd was on hand to witness all the action.

For Forkner, a solid result was crucial in Detroit after battling an illness throughout his Triumph debut last weekend in Florida. Even with a less than favourable gate pick for the Main Event after qualifying through the Last Chance Qualifier, Austin emerged from the first turn inside the top 10. From there, the Missouri native delivered consistent laps aboard his TF 250-X to make his way up to seventh at the finish.

Following his solid performance in Detroit, Austin will now enjoy a weekend off in the racing schedule before lining up for round three at the iconic Daytona International Speedway on March 1.

Austin Forkner

"I think that was one of my better starts, despite my bad gate pick, and I came out the first turn in 10th. I was too tentative at the beginning – I was a punching bag last weekend and that did not help. I settled in, started making a charge, and then the last three laps were just a free-for-all. I can build off of this weekend, though! I’m healthy and we can work from here for sure, and I’m already looking forward to Daytona."

Jeremy Coker – General Manager, Triumph Racing America

"Each week we have made strides in the right direction with Austin, and we will continue to push forward as a team and get Austin onto the podium where he belongs."
