Guillem Farres Impresses in Turkiye with Fourth Overall

Monster Energy Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres has delivered a strong weekend of racing at the MXGP of Turkiye, where the Spanish racer claimed an impressive fourth overall. Farres placed sixth in race one and led moto two before crossing the finish line in third. Camden McLellan also enjoyed a solid weekend at the 18th round of the series, placing seventh overall despite a crash in race two.
Two weeks on from the deep sand of the Netherlands, the team travelled to Afyonkarahisar and a return to hardpack conditions. Both riders excelled on the fast and rutted racetrack, with Farres placing third in the qualifying race ahead of McLellan in fourth.
Farres carried his speed from Saturday into Sunday’s Grand Prix races. Starting up front aboard his TF 250-X in the opening moto, the 22-year-old held fourth until the final lap when he frustratingly lost two positions.
Fired up for redemption in race two, Farres executed an even better start and moved into the lead on the opening lap. Guillem then led the way until near half distance when he relinquished first place to series leader Simon Langenfelder. Six laps later, defending MX2 World Champion Kay de Wolf pushed Farres back to third. Despite this, he didn’t lose too much ground to the leading duo and held his position to the finish. Following two strong rides, Guillem placed fourth overall and in doing so, moves up to eighth in the championship.
Throughout race one, McLellan formed part of a five-rider battle for fourth place. As the race ended, all five riders were separated by just three seconds, with Camden finishing seventh. In the second moto, the South African capitalised on his much-improved start and held third early on. However, a minor mistake on lap two resulted in a crash. After the incident, McLellan mounted a determined charge through the field and ultimately finished eighth, earning seventh overall. With two rounds to go, the 21-year-old remains sixth in the series standings.
The 2025 MX2 World Championship now heads to China for the 19th and penultimate round of the campaign next weekend. Then, the series concludes with the MXGP of Australia on September 20-21.
Guillem Farres
“The weekend in Turkiye is done and it’s been a pretty successful GP. I had a good feeling on the track and finished third in the qualifying race, so that was a great start to the weekend. My first race was a little disappointing though. I was running fourth until the final lap and lost two places, so I ended up sixth. My start in the second moto was really good and I took the lead on the first lap. I led the race for 10-15 minutes and then Simon and Kay passed me. It was a shame to just miss the podium today, but I showed good speed and led some laps, so I’m leaving here happy and confident for the next two rounds.”
Camden McLellan
“That’s Turkiye wrapped up. Not the best weekend for me. I felt good on the track all weekend, especially Saturday, but didn’t quite bring the same speed to Sunday’s races. I fell in the second moto and after that I lost my flow, so it was a tough one, but we’re leaving here feeling good and ready for the next GP.”
